Michael Dominguez Beddome is an American filmmaker.
A graduate of the Tisch School of the arts with a BFA in Film, he co-founded the NYC-based production company, AireBedd Productions, with classmate David M. Night Maire in 2011. There they produced dozens of award winning short films and music videos for artists including singer Charlene Kaye, rapper Saigon (“Entourage” - HBO), and film director Felix Thompson (“Kin” - AMC+).
Michael then teamed up with wife and future partner, Michel Dominguez Beddome, to produce the award-winning horror short film "What's in the Woods?" in 2020, showcasing at a variety of film festivals such as Indie Memphis, Queens World, Coney Island, Lady Filmmakers, and many amazing others. “What’s in the Woods?” went on to win “Best Horror Short” at Venice Short Film Awards, Vancouver Independent Film Festival, Oregon Short Film Festival, and Atlanta After Dark Film Festival.
His latest short film, “Cheery Up, Baby!” which he co-directed with Michel, premiered at New York International Short Film Festival in 2023 and has been making the rounds with a showing at the 2024 Queens World Film Festival, the Katra LatinX Film Festival 2024, the Brooklyn Art Cave - “(Surprise!) Birthday Party” exhibition November 2024, and a month-long exhibition at Culture Lab LIC: “Shattered: A Visual Journey Through The Mind” curated by Dawn DeVito in New York City. Following that exhibition, another of M&M’s short’s “Darla Getting Ready” went back to Culture Lab, for the show, “Threads of Resilience: A Mental Health Exhibition.”
Michel and Michael recently wrapped and are in post-production on their first feature film, “Los Enfermos; or The Sick Ones” - a modern day, gender swapped, Mexican retelling of Hamlet, set in Mexico City.
As the co-founder of M&MDB Films and The Triple M Collective, Michael is just getting started!
Episodes 1 - 5 of "Forensics: Horror in Hamelin" - the web series that tells the true-crime behind the scenes story of what happened that fateful night of the short film "What's in the Woods?" (2020)
"La Cucaracha & Other Tales of Apocalyptic Revelry" by Michael Dominguez-Beddome and illustrated by Kevin Budnik
This book is 234 Pages, and contains the stories: Explosive Tantrums and Birthday Fiascos, La Blancocabra; Posthumous Remarks From A Live Man; The Ways To Make Gemütlichkeit, or: Foodie and the Beast; SuperMarkt; Harrison's Interesting Adventure; Pearl Harbor 2: Pearl Harborer!; and lastly the self-titled story, La Cucaracha: Origins.
“I had so much fun reading La Cucaracha. Each story in this collection has the scope of a summer blockbuster, but the satirical focus and hilarious minutiae of the best Futurama episodes. Michael effortlessly glides between suspense and slapstick, and his vivid imagery is perfectly complemented by Kevin Budnik’s delightful illustrations. This debut truly has everything: Dinosaurs, Zombies, Justice-Seeking-Twinkies, an Apocalyptic Segwayman, a joke about Damien Rice. What more could you want?! Don’t answer that.”
